RESTORATION

I stepped out of my house one Sunday morning, to the horror of the caterpillar.

To my utter dismay, I found that an army of caterpillars had taken over my lillies . This had happened so fast, perhaps, overnight and  I was really upset.

Caterpillars inflict damage by eating the foliage and stems of just about any plant in your flower or vegetable garden, as well as your fruit and shade trees. Furthermore, they are voracious eaters, and can defoliate a plant in a short period of time.” Caterpillars – Surface feeders (Missouri Botanical Gardens).

As I began to lament the destruction to my garden and dent  to my pocket (because I had to bring in the gardener urgently and get some pesticide to control and prevent any further damage to the other plants) I began to ponder on the power of God to restore.

God can and will restore what has been damaged and destroyed if we ask  Him to.

According to the Merriam-Webster learner’s dictionary.com  “restoration” is defined thus:

the act or process of returning something to its original condition by repairing it, cleaning it, etc.

OR the act of bringing back something that existed before

OR the act of returning something that was stolen or taken.

My beautiful garden of flowers;

Gone and Destroyed in a matter of hours;

But here comes the Lily of the valley;

To assure me that He would rally;

All the help that I need,

And take care of every broken reed.

Is the love and joy gone from your home, God will restore.

Did you lose money from a bad investment, God will restore.

And maybe you just had another miscarriage,  God will restore.

Oh dear, you were let go at work, God will restore.

In the scripture below God is saying this to us;

“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” Joel  2:25 KJV

The destructive work of the caterpillar is bad enough. Now add to that the havoc done by locusts, cankerworms and palmerworms and God still says He will restore.

Trust God today to do as He says He will.

He is the God of restoration.
