TELL ME THE STORY OF JESUS

TELL ME THE STORY OF JESUS

“Tell me the story of Jesus

Write on my heart every word,

Tell me the story most precious

Sweetest that ever was heard.”

Fanny J. Crosby-Sweney

It’s Christmas once again and the celebration in the air is almost palpable. It’s the season of good cheer. The season to be jolly.  All in all everyone wishes to have a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. A time to give; a time to receive. And that is absolutely fantastic.

We all know that it’s been said over and over again that Jesus Christ is the reason for the season. But is that really the case now? Does that expression mean more to you than a hash tag?  Does it mean more than a “p.s.” we write after we sign our names on the Christmas cards? It should you know. After all would it be Christmas if the “Christ – Child” never came? Or would it be Christmas if Jesus was never born a babe in the manger?

In the first place Jesus is God come to dwell with man; Emmanu-El; God with us. Man was separated from God because of sin and in order to bridge the gap and reconcile us back to Him, God sent His only Son, Jesus, to take our place as sinners. Remember that hymn

“Hark! The Herald – Angels sing”

Glory to the new born King!

Peace on earth and mercy mild,

God and sinners reconciled.”?

Jesus was born to bring us back to God the Father because we had gone astray. God traded His righteousness for our sin through Jesus Christ who took all our sin upon Himself. For us, Jesus Christ became a sacrificial Lamb. “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians  5:21 KJV   Therefore as we celebrate this Christmas, let us remember that what we are actually celebrating is the birth of our Redeemer who lives and reigns forever.

We are celebrating a love so profound, there is no end to it’s depth. “And  may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is” Ephesians 3 : 18 NLT

We are celebrating a blessing so rich, it cannot be tagged with a nominal value. “Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ.” Ephesians 3 : 8 NLT

We are celebrating mercy so sure, it endures forever. “For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. ” Psalms 100 : 5 KJV

We are celebrating grace so great, it is so undeserved. “God saved you by his grace  when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” Ephesians 2 : 8 NLT

This Christmas then,  let it be much more than feasting and hosting family and friends.. Let it be a season of gratitude and appreciation to God for what He has done for each  and every one of us by giving the most beautiful gift of all; JESUS CHRIST. Let us remember to tell someone the story of Jesus and how He was born “that man no more may die; “ and to  “give us a second birth.” Then tell someone to tell someone the story of Jesus of how He came to redeem us and save us from an eternity of weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Bring your household together and as they give and receive gifts this season “Tell them the story of Jesus.”

Have yourself a Merry Christmas and see you next year.
