THE VERY BEST “DAY”

Holidays around the world!

Everybody loves a holiday. And that is just great.

Absolutely nothing wrong with taking a “chill pill”; taking things slow and easy;

Putting our feet up and getting our pedicures;

Getting some rest from the Work Week Hustle (The fitbit step challenge)

Rest up from all our “Hustle”;

And Yippee yaaaay!! Go shopping!!

Just do anything BUT work.

After all that is what holidays are about, isn’t it?

But there is a day that is so much better than any holiday. That day is today. Not yesterday and not tomorrow. RIGHT NOW!! “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalms 118 : 24 KJV

It does not matter what time or season we are. Whether we are in the spring or autumn of our lives or going through a wilderness experience, each day is the day that the Lord has made. Regardless of how we personally feel at any point in time, it is still the day that the Lord has made. Sometimes, or maybe even most times, we are not in the “rejoicing” mood and it will require enormous effort on our part to rejoice, especially when things are not going right. But we must make the choice to do so. And quite frankly it is in our own best  interest. For what use is sadness anyway? It does absolutely no good to the body, the spirit or the soul.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”  Proverbs 17:22 NLT

Don Moen; in his 1995 album (Rivers of Joy) and in the prelude to the song “I will rejoice” said “Maybe your day hasn’t gone the way that you planned it to go…..It is still the day that that the Lord has made. And He said to rejoice and be glad in it- because He made it for you”. Oh yes! And that is the honest truth really. The day is made for you and it is made for me too. Someone who went to be with the Lord last month, last week or just last night did not get the gift of “this day; the gift of today”. We have been given that gift. Let us not take it for granted. But rather let us take it with joy and gladness and be thankful for it.

So because we have been blessed to receive the gift of “this day”;  “You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. Remember what it says:“Today when you hear his voice,don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” Hebrews 3 : 13 & 15 NLT

I hope we have all enjoyed our holidays. They are special days indeed!

But always remember the very best day of all. It is “today”. Be thankful for it.

Soften that hard heart. Be merry; be cheerful!

SMILE! It will make you feel better.

REJOICE AND BE GLAD; TODAY.
