THANK GOD !!!
THANK GOD EVERY DAY!
There is a proverb in my native Yoruba language (from the South Western part of Nigeria) translated like this:
“If a child shows appreciation for the favour of yesterday, they will receive so much more thereafter”.
When we receive a gift from a loved one, we thank them. We show appreciation and gratitude for their kind gesture. This is expected and of course is also a very good thing to do.
As a matter of fact another Yoruba proverb says :
“The one who receives favour and does not show appreciation for it is no better than a thief.”
There it is said. Every time we neglect to thank God for what He has done, for what He is doing and for what He is yet to do, we errr…… we could be compared to thieves.
We are told in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” God really does expect us to be thankful people regardless of what is going on in our lives. And this is the simple truth. The above scripture is not selective as to when we should give thanks. Clearly we are to give thanks always.
Kurt Carr in his 1999 song “For Every Mountain” starts by saying “I’ve got so much to thank God for” and goes on to say some of the reasons why: wonderful blessings, open doors, waking up in the morning, brand new mercies, seeing the sunshine of a brand new day and so on. There is no time like the present to give thanks to God “For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? Psalms 6:5 KJV
Giving thanks to God ushers us into His presence “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Psalms 100:4 KJV
We are to thank God because He is holy. “Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness”. Psalms 30:4 KJV
We are to thank God because He is a righteous judge. “At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.” Psalms 119:62 KJV
We are to give God thanks “………… which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”. 1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV
How often then do we remember to thank God? Thanksgiving is something we should do very seriously, diligently and sincerely. If He gives you a little now thank Him. Because He will definitely give you much more. Never despise little beginnings.
God, in His love and generosity gave Jesus Christ, His only Son to die in the place of sinners like you and I. For this reason we have the hope of eternal life because we believe in the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ and acknowledge Him as our Lord and Saviour. That is more than enough reason to thank God always.
LET US GIVE GOD THANKS, EVERY DAY.
