IN CELEBRATION OF A WOMAN, A MOTHER!
IN CELEBRATION OF A WOMAN, A MOTHER
I know a woman!
She is just one of many.
She has a wide network of girlfriends and sisters and they always watch each others backs.
This woman is smart. She understands that “Two people are better than one for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble “ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NLT
This woman also knows that “No woman is an island”. “As iron sharpeneth iron, as a friend sharpens a friend” Proverbs 27:17 NLT
I believe this woman must have listened to Bill Withers 1972 song “Lean on me, when you’re not strong, and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on….” and perhaps Cece Winans and Whitney Houston as they sang;
“Count on me through thick and thin
A friendship that will never end
When you are weak I will be strong
Helping you to carry on
Call on me, I will be there
Don’t be afraid
Please believe me when I say
Count on me”
COUNT ON ME by Cece Winans and Whitney Houston
This woman is like Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist and Mary, the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ who shared the bond of this kind of friendship. The one was there for the other as they both came to terms with the unexpected miracles that happened in their lives. They supported each other. Luke 1: 24-45
God, our Heavenly Father, also reveals Himself through this woman. This woman is “breasted”. She feeds, she nurtures and provides sustenance for her own.
This woman is very strong and wise and will go to any length to defend her own so much so that an army commander refused to go to war without her. This is the story of Deborah, the wife of Lapidoth who was a judge in Israel, and Barak the son of Abinoam. Judges 4: 4-10
The bravery of this other woman must not go unnoticed. She boldly hammered a tent peg through the skull of a King who had held her people captive. And thus God used Jael to deliver the children of Israel. Judges 4: 21 – 23.
This woman is of great faith. Jochebed, the mother of Moses, hid her son for three months in the most unusual place (in a basket on the river bank). And she was not afraid of the king’s wicked edict to have every new born Hebrew boy killed. Hebrews 11:23 And wouldn’t you just know it? God used another woman to arrange a set-up that the Egyptian Princess fell for when it was suggested to her to let a Hebrew woman nurse the baby Moses. Exodus 2: 1-10
This woman prayed so hard it appeared she was in a drunken stupor and God heard the cry of her heart and gave her a son and many more. 1 Samuel 1: 12- 19
This woman is the mother of nations. She is the Matriarch Sarah whom God caused to bring forth laughter even in old age. Genesis 21: 6
The list is endless. But I will stop right here now.
I would like to introduce this woman to you.
This woman is YOU AND I. God has put so much on the inside of us.
We are strong, courageous, brave, bold, of great faith and very intelligent, extremely creative and resourceful. And yet we are soft and very beautiful. We are wonderfully and fearfully made. Psalm 139 : 14
I celebrate “this woman” today.
I celebrate the role model, the teacher, the trainer, the boardroom guru, the business woman, the think-tank, the adviser, the chief security officer of her home, the accountant, the prayer warrior, the cook, the laundry woman, the driver. Yes all the above and so much more. That is who we are. A gift from the Most High to mankind.
I celebrate the ONE for whom God took time and created with utmost care.
I celebrate YOU.
Happy Women’s Day and Happy Mother’s Day!
