STAY YOUNGER FOR LONGER!
STAY YOUNGER FOR LONGER!
These days it seems that we are willing to spend any amount of money or time on any product that guarantees looking many years younger or that has the effect of prolonging our life span. Even if it involves medical procedures. The truth though is that nobody is going to live forever and ageing is part of life. But be not downcast; God has promised us long life here on earth. “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Psalms 91:16 KJV But the promise of long life is not for everyone it is only for those who love God and who trust Him completely. So if for nothing else, at least for the gift of long life, let us begin to trust God as He speaks to us through His word.
Having said that, God has also put in place for us ways and means by which we may remain youthful for long. That might sound funny to some but it’s the truth. More than anything else that we can ever do, spending time with God is about the most important thing that without fail will keep us glowing. “When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that the skin of his face was shining [with a unique radiance] because he had been speaking with God.” Exodus 34:29 AMP. WOW!! Ladies did you hear that? You can be sure that no facial can ever compete with that kind of radiance or glow. So it will be a very good idea for us to speng more time in the presence of the Lord for that unique glow and radiance. How can we do that? It is written that “Moses had been speaking with God.” We are not told specifically what Moses was speaking to God about but I have a feeling he might have been expressing his frustration at leading a bunch of people who were very stubborn and difficult. It’s time for us to start bringing our burdens and placing them in the hands of God as we talk to Him about everything. Let us tell Him what scares us, what makes us uncomfortable, who hurt or upset us, what causes us anxiety or frustration, who cheated or abused us; let us tell Him everything. You know it’s been said ” A problem shared is a problem halved.” But trust me if you share it with God, He takes over completely. He will make a way.
Waiting on the Lord is another way to stay younger for longer. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40 : 31 KJV A few of us would define “waiting on the Lord” as fasting. Some versions of the bible refer to it as trusting God. In order to stay youthful both definitions work just fine. Fasting is very good discipline and helps the body to restore and repair itself. (At least at a cellular level.) And trusting God can never be over emphasized. As strength is often associated with youthfulness, you can be sure that fasting from time to time and trusting God always will make you younger and stronger for longer. ”
There is a woman who in her “youthful”old age was so attractive that kings wanted her for their harem. That woman is Sarah, the wife of our patriarch, Abraham. I wondered what it was that these kings found so irresistible about first a sixty-five year old woman and then much later the same woman when she was close to the age of ninety. See what I found! Her husband, Abraham was a friend of God and he used to meet with God. Remember earlier how Moses face shone radiantly after meeting with God, before the two occasions when those kings had taken Sarah from Abraham, Abraham had actually just met with and had been speaking to God (Genesis 12:7-20 and Genesis 18) and my strong belief is that he later was intimate with his wife and thus passing the glow and radiance on to her. As a result Sarah must have been radiating such beauty that she was extremely attractive at the age she was then.
Without any doubt the secret to staying young is with the Lord, our God. And that is why David the king acknowledged this as he said “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalms 103 : 1,2,5KJV
Because it is the Lord who renews our youth like the eagle’s let us make the habit of trusting Him, spending time with Him by telling Him everything and fasting often. And you can be sure to STAY YOUNGER AND STRONGER FOR LONGER!
