USE YOUR LIGHT
USE YOUR LIGHT
A few days ago, there was the unveiling of a real estate development in Lagos. The event was marked by a stunning, breath taking, water extravaganza which being the main attraction of this development would very easily compete with the likes of such water displays in Middle Eastern tourist attractions like Dubai. It was a real spectacle to behold. As I watched some of the display which was a beautifully crafted ensemble of water and lights, I realised that the lights made the display more phenomenal.
I began to see how light has the power and ability to transform things for the better. The Word of God says: “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.” Luke 11: 33 NIV Dear One, if you carry light in any shape, form or size, get ready to be useful to others. Other people will take advantage of the illumination that you bring.
A good idea is usually represented or depicted by a light bulb. This could be because a good idea is not only of use to the inventor, but many other people benefit from it. The electric light bulb (early versions of it) was invented by Thomas Edison a few centuries ago and today we are all beneficiaries of this. In fact, it is a world wide phenomenon. Yet it was invented by one man with the help and contributions of a few others. That is the power of light. It reaches far beyond the person who bears or carries the light.
Jesus said this about us: ” Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light to all that are in the house.” Jesus affirms to us here, that we are to be of effect and influence to others around us.
Dear friend, what light are you carrying?
What idea have you conceived and are yet to birth? What are you waiting for? What is holding you back?
There are people waiting to be illuminated by that light or that idea.
Some others will get clarity concerning somethings that have been disturbing them when you bring forth that light.
And yet more people will be handed solutions to their problems because you decide to come out of hiding and shine for all to see.
For Jesus to call us the light of the world, it means that what has been deposited in us is enough to illuminate people around us.
When our lights shine, people will see where they are about to take a wrong turn.
When our lights shine, people will be led out of darkness.
When our lights shine, people will see the mess they have made and clean it up.
We owe it to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who called us the light of the world, to stand up and stand out for others to see. Some people are still wallowing in the dark because we have not brought forth the light.
Please let us not be weary. Do not let our light grow dim.
If it appears that our light is burning out, we must not be afraid. Let us ask God for oil (the Holy Spirit) to be poured onto us so that our spark will be rekindled and reignited.
The Father promised to pour out His Spirit upon us as it is written : “until at last the Spirit is poured out on us from heaven. Then the wilderness will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops.” Isaiah 32:15 NLT
The Holy Spirit will enable and empower us to bring forth bountifully.
So where is your light?
Please do not leave it under the bushel. That could be very dangerous and extremely destructive. It could raze things to the ground.
THERE ARE MANY WAITING TO USE YOUR LIGHT: PLEASE LET IT SHINE.
