ABBA’S SIGNATURE (PART 2)
ABBA’S SIGNATURE ( PART 2)
Last week, we talked about ABBA’S SIGNATURE and we said it was His character traits that were evident in our lives, His compassion, faithfulness, goodness, grace, kindness, love and His mercy. This week I want us to see another side of the coin that is ABBA’S SIGNATURE.
As I was still meditating on the topic, I got a revelation that all those attributes and character traits of ABBA can be summed up in one Word (person). And that is JESUS. Truly, Jesus ultimately expresses and embodies God’s character.
Scripture tells us that Jesus is the kindness of God in human form. “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,” Titus 3: 4-5 NIV God’s kindness saved us.
Jesus is the love of God. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT God gave us everything He had, as a signature of His love for us. He held absolutely nothing back. Jesus therefore is the full expression of ABBA’s love.
Jesus expresses ABBA’s compassion too. God never wanted His creation to die but for them to repent and turn from their sinful ways. “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.” Lamentations 3:22 NIV He never condemned nor judged. There was a woman caught in the very act of adultery. She should have been stoned according to the law of Moses but Jesus did not allow that to happen. In a way He protected her and preserved her dignity inspite of her sin. He did not encourage her to continue in her sin but he made it clear that He saw her sin yet made a choice to look past it. The LORD’s Compassion never fails.
“They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” John 8:4-5,7,9-11 NIV
Jesus is the mercy of ABBA. And it is only of this mercy that we are not destroyed. “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed.” Lamentations 3:22a NIV You see, Jesus is the Mercy of God, the One who covers over (the propitiation for) our sins. “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2 NIV This is literally the Mercy Seat that covers the Ark of the covenant which carries the law. No man can actually fulfill the law. NO MAN. NEVER. And that is why Jesus came. Jesus as the Mercy seat covers man’s best attempts to fulfill the law, but which are still filthy rags before God.
Jesus is the Grace of God. “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17 NIV The law was given but Grace came. Grace came. It was not sent to us. Jesus is the Grace that came. Hallelujah!!!
Every exchange at Calvary’s Cross was not merited or deserved. Jesus came and made it all possible. By Grace, through faith, are we saved.
I present this day, JESUS CHRIST, the full expression of the Father’s Character: Compassion, Goodness, Grace, Kindness, Love, Mercy.
I present JESUS; THE SIGNATURE OF ABBA.
