HEAVENLY FATHER, THANK YOU FOR JESUS.

HEAVENLY FATHER, THANK YOU FOR JESUS.

Lately, I have been focusing on telling God, the Father, how much I am grateful for Jesus.

Parents love it when people tell them how cute, bright, smart and intelligent their children are. It makes them feel so proud and it even endears the person to them somewhat.

Now imagine telling God about all the beautiful things that Jesus has done and continues to do. I perceive that God will definitely be endeared to us.

While looking at some of the things that Jesus did, three instances stood out the most for me. Please follow me.

The first instance was the woman at the well of Samaria. Jesus’s kindness to this woman was for me, calming, soothing and powerful. His kindness to her preserved her dignity and removed shame and disgrace from her, so much so that she ran back (to evangelise) to the town where she had previously been ashamed to be seen by others. Jesus knew that woman had suffered enough. He went there as a matter of urgency to help her. “And he must needs go through Samaria.” John 4:4 KJV Jesus was on His way to Galilee and most Jews would normally go the longer route because of historical animosity between the Jews and Samaritans. But Jesus went rigbt through Samaria in spite of the cultural differences not minding what anyone would say. Who is to tell what the woman would have done had Jesus not come to save her?  “No one is as handsome as you! Your words are always kind.” Isaiah 45:2a CEV Jesus spoke kind words to her. He delivered her.

Secondly, there was another woman who experienced the kindness and compassion of Jesus. This was the woman caught in “the very act of” adultery. This is definitely worth telling God about. Jesus literally stood in the woman’s place, (which is what He did for us at the whipping post and at the cross). The people  already came with stones and were prepared to start stoning the woman as was commanded by the Mosaic law. By Jesus taking their attention off the woman, they could have channelled their anger and rage at Him. But Jesus stood for her. He saved her. “Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.” Psalm 35:2 KJV Jesus is still rising up to help us today. Hallelujah!!!   Jesus did not even answer the scribes and Pharisees when they came to ask Him what to do with the woman. And you know just how annoying that could be. “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, ‘He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.'” John 8:7 KJV

My prayer is that for as many as are waiting to eradicate us with all manner of stones: stones of anxiety, of delay, of depression, of fear, of lack, of stagnation, Jesus will lift Himself up to defend us. Amen.

The third instance I want to tell God about is Jesus compassion to the leper. Jesus had been teaching extensively on the mountain and the people were all astonished at His sayings. On His way down from the mountain, Jesus met a leper. Back in the day, lepers were not allowed to mix with regular folk. And if they ever had to leave their colony, they would wear a bell and be shouting “unclean, unclean”. But Jesus did not rebuke this leper who actually came out to meet Him. (I am sure Jesus went that way purposely to heal the man, just the way He had gone through Samaria.) Jesus actually touched the man; a leper. This was forbidden! Even their family members could not come close to them. But not only did Jesus come close, He touched the leper. And the leper got healed immediately. “Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.”Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.” Matthew 8:2-3 NLT  The kindness and compassion of our Saviour did not allow Him cast out the outcast.

As I thought and meditated on these Scriptures, and as I stopped in between from time to time to tell God about them and thank Him for Jesus, I was quickened to this verse in the Psalms.

“My thoughts are filled with beautiful words for the king, and I will use my voice as a writer would use pen and ink.” Psalm 45:1 CEV This is what God would actually have us do. He would want us to think beautiful thoughts of all the good things that Jesus did and is definitely still doing for us and to talk about them. Remember we have been told to think on whatsoever things are lovely and of good report. (Philippians 4:8).

NOTHING COMPARES TO THE GOOD REPORT THAT GOD SENT HIS ONLY SON, JESUS TO SAVE US FROM OUR SINS.

AND THERE IS NO SEASON LIKE THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON TO THANK GOD FOR JESUS.
