THEY ALL HEAR HIS VOICE

THEY ALL HEAR HIS VOICE.

The Word of God is His voice!

And this is why it is so important to know it and speak or declare it appropriately to anything or anyone that needs to hear it at any point in time.

There was a Man of God from Judah sent by God to rebuke king Jeroboam for idol worship. When the man arrived at Bethel, where the atrocity was being committed, he cried out against the altar at which king Jeroboam was preparing to make an offering and he thus  interrupted the sacrifice. This is what happened : “By the word of the Lord he cried out against the altar: “Altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: ‘A son named Josiah will be born to the house of David. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who make offerings here, and human bones will be burned on you.’” That same day the man of God gave a sign: “This is the sign the Lord has declared: The altar will be split apart and the ashes on it will be poured out.” 1 Kings 13: 1-2 NIV  The man of God did not so much as acknowledge the king. He spoke directly at the altar and prophesied that it would be broken.

Back in the days of their fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, altars were raised to sacrifice to the LORD, God of Israel, so this king who was sacrificing to idols was desecrtaing the altar of God. This was why God sent the man to cry out against the altar. Before long, the altar broke. “Also, the altar was split apart and its ashes poured out according to the sign given by the man of God by the word of the Lord.” 1 Kings 13:5 NIV

The first thing that jumped out at me was that an altar of earth or unhewn stone was spoken to and it heard and did exactly as it was told. Let us fast forward to yet another Son of David, who told us that if we refused to praise Him, even the rocks would cry out in praise. “Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. “ Luke 19: 38 – 40 KJV

We are created to praise God. Praising God is much more than singing and raising our hands. Obedience is a major part of praising God. We are told in scripture that: “All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.” Psalm 145:10 KJV All creation, all nature is made to praise God. And that was why Jesus cursed the fig tree. It should have been fruiting at the time Jesus came to it, but alas, no fruit was found on it : an act of total disobedience and of no praise to the Creator. And as soon as Jesus cursed it, the tree had no choice but to wither.

We are created in the image and likeness of God. And it is the very nature of God to speak to things. He even calls things that are not as though they are. “As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” Romans 4:17 NIV As long as it is the Word of God, things hear, they isten and they respond accordingly.

Jesus our LORD and Saviour, spoke the Word to the devil. When Satam kept coming to tempt Him, Jesus responded with the Word. And Satan was left with no choice but to leave Him. “Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.” Matthew 4:10-11 NIV

Dear friends, it is time to begin to speak to things. If altars can be spoken to, if trees are commanded and they obey, if there is a possibility that rocks and stones can cry out to praise Jesus if we fail to do so, then we must take our assignment seriously. While praising our Saviour all the day long we must rebuke every and any thing that brings discomfort, pain or stress to us. And trust God, they will hear and  they will obey the Word of God.

IF THEY MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE, SPEAK THE WORD TO THEM.

THEY ALL HEAR HIS VOICE, THEY WILL OBEY. EVEN THE WAVES AND THE WINDS OBEY HIM.
