A LOVE WITHOUT COMPARE

A LOVE WITHOUT COMPARE

The Grace of our LORD Jesus Christ,

The Love of God the Father,

And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,

Be with us now and forever more. AMEN!

Most of us are familiar with this short prayer we refer to as the Grace. But I want to focus on the aspect of the Love of God.

The Love of God the Father!

In Yoruba, there is a song titled, “Ife nla a lai l’egbe” which means “A Love so great, nothing can be compared to it.” (Matchless Love)

That is exactly what the LOVE of God our Heavenly Father is. Matchless! Nothing in all of creation comes remotely close to it.

A Love so passionate,

A Love so deep, nothing can separate us from it.

A Love like no other.

It has often been said that you will never know how much God loves you until you know how much He loves His Son.

God Loves us and this truth will help us as we carry on our earthly journey. It is a love that never changes no matter what we will ever pass through. It is steadfast and it is reassuring.

God gave everything for us. And He did it because of LOVE.

He did not have two sons. He did not even have three sons. He had just the One Son, Jesus Christ and He gave Him up for sinners like us, to be tortured to death; as He bore the sins of the whole world on that cross.

What manner of love!

This is the week of the passion of our LORD and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Passion here means, suffering. So this is a commemoration of His suffering.

Jesus is God the Son, and He knew exactly why He was born. He did not just appear randomly on this earth. No. He was born to die – to die for the sins of mankind. And He was going to suffer before going to a gruesome, horrific, painful death.

How does that even make me feel right now? I feel most unworthy and completely undeserving but extremely very grateful.

God is the Almighty. And honestly I would think that He could have redeemed us any way He wanted but this way, this way of the two fold sacrifice of Jesus, first at the whipping post (for the healing of our physical bodies) and then at the cross (for the cleansing of our sins) is cause to pause.

Pause and ponder on how we live on earth. We are mostly after too many things that are so insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Let God help us all.

Pause and ponder on what we actually prioritise. Do we place a premium on the one relationship that truly matters? Are we intentional about spending time with Jesus and having a more intimate relationship with Him?

Pause and ponder on why God has kept and preserved us till now. He did not just give up His Only Son, Jesus for us, there is a purpose for every single one of us as children of God. Primarily, we are all called to make Jesus known to the uttermost ends of the earth. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NIV

Living as children of God, being Christ-like, is not set apart for the Holy Week, or Lent or for when a general fast is called in our various assemblies; the nature of Christ should be seen in us always. “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:” Philippians 2:5 NIV

The twofold sacrifice of our LORD, and Saviour, Jesus Christ is too precious to disregard or to be lightly esteemed. It is everything and much more.

Nobody in this world is without sin and God knows that nobody can ever attain that perfection. We have all received His mercy. So God made it easy for us by gifting us the righteousness. It is our due to receive the gift and acknowledge it with gratitude. “For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17 NLT

So I urge you, my dear friends, to keep the main thing the main thing. JESUS CHRIST is the main thing, not just at passion week but every blessed day we are alive.

And while we are there let us thank God always for His Love that has no compare.
