JESUS! THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

JESUS! THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

As the daughter of an Architect, I have seen firsthand the use of natural light in residential abodes and I have benefitted immensely from its impact.  Aside from the fact that natural light has been known to help people be healthier and calmer, it has been observed that productivity levels increase and people are happier when they spend more time in naturally lit spaces. In climes where winter months are longer and more severe, natural light has been seen to regulate SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorders).

On the other hand, darkness has been defined as the absence of light. It follows therefore that the opposites of all the benefits of natural light listed above are possibilities to be found where darkness thrives. Darkness has a lot of negativity attached to it. Darkness is associated with emptiness. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” Genesis 1: 2 NIV Darkness is very dangerous and can cause accidents if one remains therein. “Therefore their path will become slippery; they will be banished to darkness and there they will fall. I will bring disaster on them in the year they are punished, declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:12 NIV A place of darkness is a place of retrogression and barrenness. “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Ephesians 5:11 NIV A dark space is a place of partial or temporary visual impairment where you can barely see beyond your nose. “So justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We look for light, but all is darkness, for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows. Like the blind we grope along the wall, feeling our way like people without eyes. At midday we stumble as if it were twilight; among the strong we are like the dead.” Isaiah 59 9-10 NIV

Darkness is associated with uncertainty and confusion. “Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.” Romans 1: 21 NLT

Dear friends, there is only one solution to darkness. LIGHT!  We must turn on the light. Once you step into a dark room all you need to do is flip a switch and the darkness just disappears. Jesus is that Light. He is the Light of the World. He is the solution to the darkness we feel, sense and see all around us. To turn on the Light is to move towards the switch and touch it. Even remote controlled switches must be touched to be activated. How are we activating the Light of the world in our lives in order to stay out of darkness? We must make every effort to befriend Jesus. He is available all day every day. He is always there. Just pick up the Bible. Open it to any page. And start reading. Just as simple as that, The Light has come on. For it is written: “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” Psalms 119:105 NKJV Download a bible App unto your handheld device and you have the Word on the go. Open it up and read it from time to time. It will keep you lit up. And really too much time on social media will keep you shrouded in darkness. Please come out of the darkness and step into the Light.

Jesus is still the Light of the World.
