JUBILEE
JUBILEE!!!
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Jubilee as a special anniversary. Especially a 50th anniversary or the celebration of such an anniversary.
Biblically or spiritually speaking, the Jubilee year proclaims freedom, liberty (from slavery and oppression), restitution, restoration and favour. A year of celebration and jubilation. A year of rest. “And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.” Leviticus 25: 10-12 KJV
Well, it turns out that some of my friends and I are in our Jubilee! Yaaaay!!! And besides being a year as described above it is also, for most of us, a year of profound gratitude, appreciation and thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving to God for the gift of life, for guidance and protection over us and our loved ones, for provision and help in time of need. “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.” Colossians 1:11 KJV
Most of all, we are grateful for the greatest Jubilee of all. It is the one proclaimed by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Listen to what He says: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18 -19 KJV
This jubilee is for us all. It is not exclusive to only those in their fiftieth year. This jubilee is for all of us who have come to the realisation that we are absolutely NOTHING without Jesus. Jesus Christ has broken down all the barriers that the Law held up. We can come to Him today because He came to us. He left His throne and came to earth to perform that once and for all “ultimate sacrifice.” His precious blood was shed for us all to cleanse us from sin and to reconcile us to God the Father. As sinners we wandered far away from the loving care and protection of our Heavenly Father. Sin cut us off. We were denied what was rightfully ours because only sons and daughters can partake of the inheritance of grace and mercy. But now Jesus has brought us back and He bids us come; “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 KJV And as we come He assures us that broken hearts will be healed and mended and captives will be delivered. It doesn’t matter who hurt you and how deep the wounds are; in Jesus there is healing. “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” Psalms 34: 18 KJV People are being held bound and captive (some are unaware even) by all kinds of addictions and all what not “But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away , and the the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contender with thee, and I will save thy children.” Isaiah 49: 25 KJV These promises are even extended to our children. What depth of love this is!
Please take some time out and come to God the Father through Jesus the Son and thank Him for healing, deliverance and divine favour. It’s all part of the JUBILEE!!!
