MOVE FORWARD IN 2020

MOVE FORWARD IN 2020

A very happy new year to one and to all. Here is wishing us God’s best now and always.

No matter how great a year 2019 was for some, I am certain that nobody would want to go back there. Or would they? I should hope not. That would be an act of backwardness. And I am just as certain that 2020 has the potential of being an even greater year for all of us.

The word of God in the book of Jeremiah clearly states that trying to do things our own way without heeding the voice or the leading of God will cause us to retrogress. See, even God does not want us to go backwards. “But my people would not listen to me. They kept doing whatever they wanted, following the stubborn desires of their evil hearts. They went backward instead of forward.”  Jeremiah 7:24 NLT    This will not be our lot ever.

It is while doing the will of God that one is able to advance. And so it is important to find out what that is for each and everyone of us. The fact that a person is doing very well in a particular thing does not mean that another person who does exactly the same thing in the same way will make it big. The one person might be doing the will of God for them and so they will move forward very quickly. While the other person might not be doing what God planned for them. This year let us not do stuff because others are doing it or have been doing it successfully. Our question should be “what would God have me do?” And let Him teach us the way to go. “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.” Psalms 143: 10 NLT

After asking God what He wants us to do, we might get a clear leading or maybe even a subtle nudge in a particular direction. Whether or not it is a course that has been charted before “DO NOT BE AFRAID.” And as “NIKE” the sports equipment manufacturer says, “just do it”. As we do it let us be assured that God will move us forward. “They went in whatever direction the spirit chose, and they moved straight forward in any direction without turning around.”  Ezekiel 1:12 NLT

Whatever 2019 brought, the fact remains that the year is gone. 2020 is a new chapter,  a clean slate or a new beginning if you like. If 2019 was good for you,  that’s Awesome! Cherish your memories.  But if it was not so good for you, do not beat yourself over the head and stay in a place of regret or sadness.. Please very quickly put it right behind you where it belongs and think on the great things God has in store for you this year. “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,” Phillipians 3:13 NLT  Because there is indeed a lot of goodness that lies in wait for us.

To move forward could mean to walk in a direction toward the front or to make progress. As we listen to God and do His will this year I pray that we will be taking quick steps to the front of the crowd to come out at the top and that we will make very good progress in all that our hands find to do.

HAVE AN AWESOME 2020!
