THE AUTHOR AND THE FINISHER

THE AUTHOR AND THE FINISHER
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 KJV
The bible tells us that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. The title “author and finisher” simply means the one who originates and the one who completes.
At creation we see the sequence in which God created the world and everything in it. And once He completed each task, He saw that it was all good. So when He finished what He had set out to do, He even rested on the seventh day “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.” Genesis 2:2 KJV
Look at the birth of a child, no one knows how the conception really takes place because some conceive and some do not even when tests show that both parties are fine. This tells us that it is beyond medical science. Yet God knows the very beginning right up to the birth.
“Shall I bring to the point of birth and not cause to bring forth?” says the LORD; “shall I, who cause to bring forth, shut the womb?” says your God.” Isaiah 66:9 ESV
Our God is not in the habit of doing things halfway. If He starts it, He will finish it. “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6 ESV
Our God is faithful like that. That is His way. He never sets us up to let us down. If He sets you up be sure it is to elevate you.
As His children, we are also faced with and expected to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis and it is quite easy to become discouraged, exhausted or overwhelmed. And even more so if we do not learn to commit everything unto Him. “Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3 NLT If we want our plans to succeed, we must learn to commit everything to Him.
And when He begins to nudge us in particular directions we must obey. Otherwise how can we perfect and complete our tasks if we do not let Him lead us?
Dear friends, what are our plans for 2025? Have we committed them to the LORD yet? Have we asked for His counsel and direction? January flew past so quickly. And trust me, that is exactly how the rest of this new year will go. If we do nothing else new this year, please let us put all our plans in His hands. He already knows the end from the beginning and He will never allow our plans to be aborted if we ask Him to order our steps. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11 KJV.
Our Heavenly Father has in mind for us, a beautiful end. Let us walk and work with Him this year to come to that end thst He has so lovingly prepared for us. Let us bring Him in on every transaction, every relationship, every deal, every journey, every outing, every date. Let Him start it with us and we can be sure of a glorious end. If we do not want to bring Him in, then perhaps we have no business being there ourselves. We must let Him lead us because He will never lead us astray.
COMMIT ALL TO THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER!
