THE LORD WANTS THE WORK TO BEGIN.

THE LORD WANTS THE WORK TO BEGIN. GO FOR IT!!!
Lekan was a young man in his mid twenties and he was very hard working. His background was humble and he knew that he could not afford to let his mother down. She had done everything to see him this far. At the auto mechanics shop where he was doing an apprenticeship, he remained focused and even when he sometimes hung out with the other young men after work, he would always find a way to leave them and go home.
As time went by he specialised as a battery charger though he had a basic knowledge of the workings of a car.
Most of the other guys faced the maintenance of vehicles like servicing and minor repairs and their experience grew.
It appeared that Lekan had gone the route that was not very lucrative but he hung in there. Clients would call for him to fix their car and generator batteries and he would gladly do so.
Then one day, while charging the battery of a client’s generator, they discovered that there was no diesel in the power generating set. So the client asked Lekan if he could please buy diesel to fill up the generator tank and Lekan did so without a grumble.
And thus Lekan saw the gap that needed to be filled. He began to ask his clients if they needed diesel and if he could bring it to them. This was how he became known in the neighbourhood and beyond as a diesel merchant. Today Lekan is doing much better than most of the guys he started out with.
As I thought of this story, I was reminded of the scripture that goes like this: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” Zechariah 4:10a
Many people have high and lofty dreams and that is great. For most though, the resources might not be readily accessible and available. Yet that is not enough reason to let our dreams die.
The children of Israel were never happy to be enslaved for so long by the Egyptians. Each one must have dreamt of the day they would be set free from bondage. On the fateful day of their deliverance it did not come as expected. When they were caught literally between the devil and the deep blue sea, some of them even expressed regret for having come out of Egypt. But God asked them to move forward. And as they took the first step; whoosh! The red sea parted left and right to reveal the dry land for them to walk through. But they had to take that first step. Perhaps there is a first step that you need to take now towards your dream. Do not let fear keep you rooted to one spot.
It pleases the LORD when we take steps forward. Especially the very first step.
It speaks of boldness.
It speaks of dependence.
It speaks of faith.
It speaks of trust.
Without faith no man can please God and those who trust in the LORD will never be put to shame.
Not everyone gets what they want on a platter of gold. A lot of people work mighty hard to get up and get ahead. So there is nothing wrong with working hard. Get rich quick schemes only get one into trouble quick.
We should NEVER let ANYTHING deter us from moving forward no matter how imposing or threatening it appears. Goliath was so imposing and he threatened the lives out of the Israelites but David was bold and his dependence and trust in God were evident. As he stepped forward to finish Goliath off, God stepped in and finished the job.
Take the first step and never despise the days of humble beginnings.
We should be consistent and focused.
We should do less of complaining and grumbling.
The Word of God promises us this:
“Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.” Job 8:7 KJV
Another promise from the Word of God to encourage us is this: “A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.” Isaiah 60:22 KJV
God never wants any of us to remain stagnant. He wants us to grow. Even Jesus Christ, grew in wisdom and in stature as a child. Growing never hurt anyone. There might be scrapes here and there but growth is always good.
We must not let fear destabilise us from going forward. God has got our back and He will never let us stumble.
Let us not give up on that dream.
Let us not look down on that position.
IT IS TIME TO START THE WORK.
MAKE THAT MOVE NOW!
