THE ONE FOR THE ONE.
THE ONE FOR THE ONE.
Everybody on earth is a child.
Parenthood is the agency that brings us here and exclusively, the arm of parenthood that we ride on to get here is motherhood.
Jesus came by that agency too.
His earthly parents were Mary, His mother and Joseph, His earthly father. But His heavenly Father is God. Jesus is God the Son.
God did not have two sons so that it might not have mattered much that He gave one up. He did not have four sons either and he did not even have ten or hundreds or thousands of sons. God had just the ONE, the only begotten, Jesus Christ.
You see, God had created man to have an intimate relationship with Him. But Adam (and Eve) sinned against God in the garden of Eden. They had thereby put enemity between God and man. And as man lived on year after year, with sin now in our DNA, it was necessary to cover that sin by making atonement with the blood of bulls and goats and rams. “In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” Hebrews 9:22 NLT The blood of animals was not a permanent solution to the sin of mankind. It expired after one year. And atonement would have to be made again.
Yes God had created man and He knew what He created, and He had already put a permanent solution in place. That one day Jesus would come and clean the mess by shedding His own blood once and for all. “All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.” Revelation 13:8 NIV Jesus is referred to in the above scripture as the Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world. God knew man would never be perfect. All have come short of the Glory of God. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3:23 NLT All our righteousness is like filthy rags before God. And Jesus came to fix that.
There is no perfect man except for Jesus, who is God and who came as man. He only, was the perfect man. And thus in that perfection did God reconcile man to Himself.
God had said the soul that sins shall die. We all were destined for eternal damnation and death before Jesus came and took all our sins upon Himself. And when Jesus stood in our place, He exchanged His righteousness for our sin and He died in our place. According to God, now, as many as shall accept Jesus Christ as their LORD, and personal Saviour, they shall have eternal life.
Jesus came for us individually. They way we did not all come to accept Him as our Saviour all at one and the same time is the same way that His one perfect sacrifice is for the “one” who comes to Him. He died for that one. He is still chasing after that one today. He loves that one. He does not want any to perish. “Do you think that I like to see wicked people die? says the Sovereign LORD. Of course not! I want them to turn from their wicked ways and live.” Ezekiel 18:23 NLT
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our LORD and Saviour, JESUS CHRIST, remember that God gave up absolutely everything He had HIS ONE AND ONLY SON because He loves us.
God still wants us to have a relationship with him and Jesus made that possible when He died on the cross. The temple curtains were torn apart. We now have direct access to the Almighty Father because His Son made it so. The relationship with God is a personal one. It is a one-on-one. No go-betweens, no intermediaries are needed.
I would like to leave us with the words of one of my favourite Christmas hymns of all time.
Hark! The herald angels sing.
Hark! The herald angels sing.
“Glory to the new-born king
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! The herald angels sing
“Glory to the new-born king”
WE GIVE ALL GLORY TO THE NEW BORN KING, JESUS, WHO CAME TO RECONCILE US TO GOD.
HE IS THE ONE THAT CAME FOR EVERY ONE WHO ACCEPTS HIM AS LORD AND SAVIOUR! HALLELUJAH!! HE IS THE ONE FOR THE ONE.
Merry Christmas to us all!
