THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST
“The passion“, having it’s origin from late Latin “passio(n-)” means “suffering and enduring”. It refers to the short final period in the life of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, beginning from His entry into Jerusalem to His crucifixion on Mount Calvary.
“Passion” also means a “very strong feeling” or “intense emotion” for something or someone.
The passion of Jesus is love for mankind and He endured intense pain and suffering for it.
This is how I describe His passion;
It’s the blood He shed on the cross for us…………………….Philippians 2:8
It’s the nail-pierced hands and all the cuts…………………….John 19:18
It’s each stripe that healed your diseases and mine………. Isaiah 53:5
It’s His life He laid down on the line……………………………..John 15:13
It’s the crown of thorns He wore………………………………… Mark 15:7
It’s our shame and disgrace He bore……………………………..1 Peter 2: 24
Song writer Israel Houghton in his 2001 song “You’ve won my affection” sums it all up when he says of the Lord Jesus
………………“We were your passion; so you gave your all”.
He died for us; It’s time to start living for Him!
Make Jesus your passion today.
