LET US PRAY

On September 11, 2001, one of the most harrowing terrorist attacks the world has ever known, was carried out on The World Trade Centre,  Manhattan,  New York and part of the Pentagon, Arlington County, Virginia. The attacks claimed a little under 3,000 lives.

On the same day in Wilton, Connecticut, a retired Marine, David Karnes, who had previously spent 23 years in the Marine Corps infantry but was then working on his job as a senior accountant with Deloitte Touche, felt he had to do something to help. He responded to the attacks by telling his boss he might not see him for a while.

He then drove to church, asked the pastor and parishioners to say a prayer that God would lead him to survivors and then headed off to Manhattan in his Porsche 911. Karnes, a devout Christian,  often turned to God when faced with decisions.

PRAYER is derived from two words:- “pra”  which means plead and “artha” which means fervently.

Prayer is a plea.

Prayer must be fervent.

Prayer is a fervent plea.

Ex-Marine Karnes and his co-parishionesr pleaded fervently with God and their fervent plea was answered. Karnes was instrumental to the rescue of two WTC survivors.

We are urged to pray without ceasing; be not discouraged and not faint. Luke 18:1-8

We are called to plead fervently with Him in secret to get our public rewards. Matthew 6:6

Remember also to pray ( and fast) when you need deliverance from all kinds of evil. Matthew 17:21

God changed Hannah’s story when she pleaded fervently for a child. 1 Samuel 1:27

Jabez was granted his request when he cried out to God in prayer. 1 Chronicles 4:10

A fervent plea will see God send His angels to come swiftly to help. Daniel 9: 21-23; Daniel 10: 12-13

When we pray, captives bands are loosed and their chains are broken. Acts 16: 25-26

Maybe a loved one is sick? A fervent plea will avail much. James 5:16

Remember God does not change! He answered the Ex-Marine’s plea. He will grant our requests if we plead fervently with Him.
