GOD IS FAITHFUL
GOD IS FAITHFUL AND KEEPS HIS PROMISES
“Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As thou hast been, Thou forever will be.”
Words: Thomas O. Chisholm
The Bible in Psalm 33:4 New International Version says: “For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.” A simple dictionary meaning of faithfulness is “unfailingly remaining loyal”. Faithfulness is a characteristic of God and the Promises that God makes to us do not fail. If God says He will do something, He will.
Let us have a brief look into the life of Abraham. When God called Abraham, He said:
“1. The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
2. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
3. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12: 1-3 New International Version
At the time God called Abraham (then Abram) he was still seventy-five years old and Isaac was born when Abraham was ninety-nine years old. God had already promised to make him a great nation, and even though, Abraham did not know when the promise would come to pass, God kept his word. Abraham’s son, Isaac, eventually married Rebecca, who bore him Esau and Jacob (who later became Israel) and was the father of the twelve tribes of Israel.
This short story above about the life of Abraham is something that we can all learn from. The fact that something does not happen right now when we want it or when we are expecting it or even when we have fasted and prayed about it, does not mean it will not happen at some point in the future.
Psalm 119:90 New International Version reads like tbis: “Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.”
What are you waiting on God for, what blessing are you and your family hoping for? The fact that it has not yet happened does not mean it will not. That it has not yet happened is not a denial. After all God is faithful and keeps His promises, the way He was then, is the same way He is now and would be forever more.
Let us then trust Him. He does not change.
God is faithful even now.
