THE HARVEST WILL SURELY COME

THE HARVEST WILL SURELY COME

Late in 2021, I ventured into a gardening business. You see I am a plant lover and I love my green spaces so it was not that big of a deal for me. When I bought my first set of fruit trees my mentor told me it would take about two rains for the trees to start fruiting. Initially, I just thought; “that’s fine, no worries there at all.”  But as the days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and then the months wore on going to a year, I began to wonder what I had gotten myself into. It was not as easy as I had imagined it to be. Then the first year passed and the second year was advancing slowly but surely. My Noni and pomegranates had begun to fruit nicely and I had sold one of the Nonis. Yet I was still anxious because no other tree was fruiting. Sometimes in the evening, I would come and pluck a leaf or two from the mango or lemon trees just to get a whiff of their scent which I found very relaxing.

From time to time some scriptures would pop into my mind and I would once again be assured that my fruit trees would bear fruits. The word of God says: “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22 KJV Whenever this word came to my mind I would tell myself that I would definitely have my harvest season. And that would give me rest and peace of mind.

I got extra hands to help with watering in the evenings and occasional weeding and pruning and general maintenance of the fruit trees. Another scripture would sneak into my mind: “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” 1 Corinthians 3:6 KJV

Then one beautiful day I noticed my paw-paws were fruiting. Really tiny little things but they had potential. I was elated. Aah finally, after years of tending, God was adding the increase. This meant so much to me.

On the first of January, 2024, I plucked my first paw-paw and when I cut it to share with my family, it was a celebration. Needless to say, the fruit was so sweet. I pray that we will all have bountiful and sweet harvests this year in Jesus name.

Dear friends God is a promise keeper. Has He said it and will He not make it good? “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” Numbers 23: 19 NLT

That is it. God keeps His promises. The wait time for every harvest is different. My Citrus fruits have not started to fruit yet but I believe that they will because as long as the earth remains, according to the word of our God who does not lie; if we sow, we will reap.

I have no idea how long you have been waiting. Please do not give up on that seed, (whatever it is) keep watering it. Do not be discouraged. God will add the increase. “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 NLT Some harvests takes longer than others. But know that THE HARVEST WILL SURELY COME.
