LET THE HOUSE STAND

LET THE HOUSE STAND

One thing that makes me sad is when siblings or members of a family are at war with each other. There are stories about siblings that have fought each other to the point where all that their beloved parents worked for and left behind for them has been left to waste away while they are busy hating each other and fighting meaningless battles.
One of the saddest of such stories I heard very recently is about a mother (who is well advanced in age: past the three score and ten mark) who is at war with one of her children. This war has escalated beyond what is conceivable. Strangers who have no business knowing anything about their lives have come in to start acting as mediators. This mother absolutely refuses to make peace with her own seed. I can only pray that she will give up this position of being adamant before it is too late.
The bible says this very clearly “A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse. Similarly,  a family splintered by feuding will fall apart.” Mark 3:25-25 NLT
Whenever there is a family feud, it goes beyond the two or three or maybe four parties involved. Generations are affected. Their children are watching and are wondering why their parents are swearing never to have anything to do with their own siblings. It is a terrible precedence. These children get into relationships or get married and will never see anything wrong with holding endless grudges against people regardless of who they are. Unless of course they come to know the love of God and accept Jesus Christ as their LORD and Saviour; such children might grow up into dysfunctional adults.

See what the Bible says about staying united as a family: “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the LORD has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.  Psalms 133:1- 3 NLT

It is big deal to God for families to stay united. Unity is extremely powerful. In the above scripture it is likened to anointing – (that has the potential to break yokes.)
Harmony or unity, if you like, also brings about blessings from God.

Someone needs to hear this today, “Go and make peace with your siblings, your parents especially your father, make peace with your spouse and with your children too.” Let us start from home and then we can extend harmony to our friends and colleagues. We miss out on and we lose so much when we walk in unforgiveness, anger and disunity.
Help a brother up, do not disdain him. Yes he might have fallen on hard times (even as a result of his own carelessness) but remember it is God who gives the power to get wealth. Cover your father’s shame. It comes with a blessing. The sons of Noah, Shem and Japheth, covered their father’s nakedness. They were blessed and prosperous for doing so. Let a sibling lean on you. Show some love. Do not be harsh on him.

In conclusion, know that God is the greatest lover of all time. He gave everything He had because of His love for us. God is love. I leave us with the following bible verses.
“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God,  for God is love.” 1John 4:7 – 8 NLT

It is the assignment of Satan to come and destroy homes and families. Please let us not allow this. Let us stay united.
