THE SECRET PLACE
THE SECRET PLACE
My Shield; He defends me,
My Rock; He protects me,
My Banner; He covers me,
My Strength; He upholds me.
And in a “Secret Place” ; He hides me.
Yea! In the the time of trouble; He hides me.
Someone told me of how she once had to live (in a hotel) away from her home for an extended period of time. Though it was great always having people around especially at her beck and call, there were times she just wanted to run away from all the activity, the bright lights, the “noise”, and just go and lock herself up in a quiet place for days at a stretch to get her “sanity” back. And every once in a while she got the chance to do just that.
When the “noise” from the Hustle of your life gets too loud and almost unbearable, where do you retreat to?
When the race is tough and competition is hunting you down on every side where do you go for the pit stop to refuel, realign and refresh?
There is this one place I know. Please let me share it with you. It is place where all that troubles, worries or causes anxiety will lose their significance. It is a very safe place and you do not have to spend a dime to get there. “This I declare about the Lord:He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. Psalms 91: 2 NLT
This place is the “Secret Place” (of the Most High. ) It is a place where we are kept away from all harm. It is not a place like the one where the mother of Moses, Jochebed tried to hide him until she could hide him no more. (Exodus 2:3) It is not a place like the places David kept running away to when he was trying to get away from King Saul. He got no rest there because Saul’s men always found him. “Come down whenever you’re ready, O king, and we will catch him and hand him over to you!” 1 Samuel 23:20 NLT It is not a place where workers of iniquity can stay. “For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.” Job 34:21-22 KJV
Unlike all these places mentioned above; The “Secret Place” (of The Most High) is a quiet place. “When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble?” Job 34:29a KJV. It is a place of protection “For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.” Psalms 27: 5 NLT
It is a place where the lash of the tongue cannot touch us. “You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in your presence, far from accusing tongues.” Psalms 31: 20 NLT
The “Secret Place” (of the Most High) is not a physical location per se. But it is in the Word of God ( when we spend time reading and meditating on it). It is when we lift up our voices in praises to Him, (He always shows up at the place of praise) It is the place where we come before Him in worship, adoration, thanksgiving and gratitude.(We enter His gates with thanksgiving). It is basically the place where we are intimate with God our Heavenly Father. Where we hide nothing from Him and He in turn hides us and keep us safe from evil.
Psalm 91 is the promise of God to us as we come into His “Secret Place.”

It is in “THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH”.
