STAY ALIVE
STAY ALIVE
To die is the end of one’s life here on earth. But to be dead could mean something else entirely. It could mean a characteristic of not being active or even a lack of excitement. If a person is referred to in that manner, it simply means that they have lost their joie de vivre.
The election season in Nigeria has just ended. This was an election season like none before it. The outcome has robbed people of their joy. It was rough in so many ways. People were hurt, people are hurting. Words and insults were traded openly and especially on social media. Hate was spewn all over the polity. Some people are still in shock over choices of candidates contesting for the various offices as well as varying reactions and comments of dear friends and loved ones regarding some of the issues and trends we all saw over the past few weeks. And some have truly just given up on the country, Nigeria.
Regardless of what we experienced, what we heard, what we read or what we saw; the truth is that life must go on. The one who is alive must not remain in the place of anger, or hurting or worrying. Those are places of inactivity and all that will happen there is a gradual wasting away of oneself. “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive?” Luke 24:5b NLT Living is NEVER among the dead. Let us get back up and pick the pieces. Sadly as a result of all these things some relationships have broken down irretrievably and that is a big shame. But life must go on. For others who it is the case that damages can still be repaired, let them waste no time in mending fences because life must go on.
It is alright to get angry but watch it! When we remain in a place of hurt and anger it is not to the benefit of anyone. “If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day.” Ephesians 4:26 Good News Translation As a matter of fact, research has shown that the one who stays angry can easily be affected by increased anxiety, high blood pressure and even headaches.
I come to tell us today to get up and move on. Even if things did not go the way we expected, God is still God. “The LORD has made the heavens his throne; from there he rules over everything.” Psalm 103: 19 NLT This is the word of God to us at this time. If He is telling us that He rules over everything, then He certainly does. God is working right now and He will make all things work together for our good.
No matter how bad it looks right now we must believe that God is working something out for our good. “But Jesus said, My Father has never stopped working and this is why I keep on working.” John 5:17 Contemporary English Version
We must not allow anger eat us up. Let us forgive one another and let go of the hurt and pain. We can rekindle our hope, our joy and our laughter by being in the presence of the Lord in Praise, Prayer and Worship. Praise is actually therapeutic!
ONLY THE LIVING CAN PRAISE GOD! PLEASE STAY ALIVE TO ENJOY A BETTER TOMORROW!
