WIN THAT BATTLE

WIN THAT BATTLE

The Mind! The Mind! The Mind!

How powerful it is!

A real battle field it is!

So are you prepared and ready to win this battle?

If we do not set out to intentionally win and be conquerors in this battle we will become undone and become prey to the enemy. Therefore it is time to stop “taking” thoughts into our minds of what will not profit us. For the scripture tells us “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” Matthew 6: 25 KJV The devil is very crafty and extremely manipulative. Whenever our minds begin to entertain or take thoughts of fear, worry and anxiety, please know that those thoughts did not just happen there. The devil brings them and we have a choice to take them or not take them. Please let us choose to NOT take them. We must not allow the devil to manipulate our minds.

Our thoughts should therefore be as it is written. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”  Philippians 4: 8 NLT  The lovely reports, the beautiful memories, the truth in the word of God are the very things we should allow to flourish and remain abundant in our thoughts and in our minds. The mind is very fertile and whatever we allow into it will grow. This tells me that it would be really nice and of huge benefit to us if we begin to actively fix our thoughts on good. To fix means to fasten, to attach or to secure.  When our thoughts are fastened on to good thing; things that can lift us up and make us smile; our very lives and everything about us will change positively. “A happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing, But a broken spirit dries up the bones”. Proverbs 22: 17 Amplified.  The effect of pleasant thoughts is actually far reaching; and as long as we carry on along those lines, there will be no place for the devil to deposit other kinds of thoughts. This is not to say that there is no evil out there. Needs and challenges are real but when did worry ever solve the problem? Most times when we have unpleasant thoughts, worries or anxieties, they do not change the situation but they change us; they change our countenance, our feelings and ultimately our physical state. As a counselor and a cognitive behavior therapist, I have seen how cognition is so important to mental and physical health. The more that a person allows their mind or their thoughts to remain in a dark place, or the longer they focus on things that are wrong, false, unjust or unfair, they eventually begin to brood.

The truth of the matter is, no matter how many therapists we visit or how many church deliverance meetings we attend, nobody can think our thoughts for us. It will therefore be entirely up to us with the help of God to win that battle for our minds. The bible tells us this:  “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”  Romans 12:2 NLT So there we have it, any change starts with the way we think; and what better thoughts than the words of God which reveal to us the mind of God concerning us. His words are life, they are quick and they are powerful. They are sharper than swords. They heal. They illuminate. Jesus used the words of God to shut the devil up. We can too. The words will come readily to us if we spend time reading and meditating on them.

LET US ARM OURSELVES WITH THE WEAPON THAT WILL GUARANTEE WE WIN THE BATTLE FOR OUR MINDS.

THAT WEAPON IS THE WORD OF GOD.

LET US MEDITATE ON IT.
