EVERLASTING LOVE; EVERLASTING LIFE.
EVERLASTING LOVE, EVERLASTING LIFE.
John 3:16 KJV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This has to be the most widely known bible verse. It focuses on God’s love and everlasting life, but as often as we hear it we need to remind ourselves of this as much as possible. God loves us and His love towards us is the unconditional type of love, there is nothing attached to it. We did not do anything to deserve God’s love and He loves us still, it is not because of what we have done but because of who He is. God would never leave us nor forsake us and He is always there every time we call. The bible says in Romans 8:38-39 KJV
“38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Absolutely nothing, nothing in the present, nothing in the future, nothing at all can ever separate us from the love of God. God loves us despite what we may think of ourselves. No matter what we have done, no matter who we have been His love for us is never changing, it is never ending. Because of sin and in order to repair this relationship between God and man, God sent His Son, His only Son to die for us. There is no greater love than this.
As the Easter period is still upon us let us reminisce on the death of Jesus on the cross. Jesus’ death is also referred to as “the passion”. When we think of this and all the events that surrounded his death, we can see how much God loves us. Jesus paid the ultimate price so we can have life. The good news today is that, not only did Jesus die but he rose from the dead. That’s right! Jesus Christ the Son of the living God conquered death!
It is written in Matthew 28:5 -6 KJV
“5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
The angel said “he is risen”! The resurrection of Jesus signifies life, everlasting life. The grave could not hold Jesus down, death could not hold him down, he overcame death, sickness, infirmity, sin and every evil thing of this world. In him and because of him we have life, everlasting life.
In John 11:25-26 KJV; Jesus said to Martha the sister of Lazarus;
“25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
So why then are we down, why then are we burdened. Jesus came so we could have life and life abundantly. Jesus gives us everlasting life and all we have to do is live and believe in him. When I was younger I often heard this prayer, “in Jesus name we have life.” Then, I didn’t understand the prayer but now that I have grown older, this has so much more meaning to me. It is only through Jesus that we have life and it’s only through him that we can come to God.
So I tell you today, please, do not be discouraged, do not be weary because of the things that may be happening in the world around you. God’s love is always there for us and because of this love we can have life.
Life that is eternal, everlasting, a beautiful kind of life; because of God’s everlasting love.
