WHO IS YOUR FATHER
WHO IS YOUR FATHER?
“The apple does not fall far from the tree”
“A chip off the old block”
“The spitting image”
These are all English idioms that describe the striking likeness of an individual to their parents.
This tells me that it is natural and even expected that one should bear resemblance to ones parents. This resemblance might be in physical attributes, expressions or character traits that we display.
In the bible there is the story that tells about the exiles who returned with Ezra (the Scribe) from Babylonian captivity and some could not be identified as part of Israel while some others who claimed to be priests were also not allowed to minister.
“Another group returned at this time from the towns of Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Kerub, Addan, and Immer. However, they could not prove that they or their families were descendants of Israel”.
“They searched for their names in the genealogical records, but they were not found, so they were disqualified from serving as priests.” Ezra 2:59 & 62 NLT
This is a very tragic story. I pray that we will not be excluded from our inheritance in Jesus name.
But how or why could it be that these ones were unable to prove their identity? Why were they not recognised? It could be the case that they bore absolutely no kind of resemblance to their fathers before them. So it would be easy to see them as strangers and impostors.
BUT, we have a Father, The Almighty God; Our Father,
He is the King of kings; His ride is on the wind’s wings,
He is the Lord of Lords; His words are sharper than swords,
He created us in His image, therefore we are of His lineage,
But does it really show, for the whole world to know?
God is our Father; He is loving and kind; slow to anger and abounding in mercy; He longs to be gracious and is full of compassion. He is the Prince of peace and He commands storms to be still.
Let us show the world who we are, and be more like Jesus in everything we do. We are the salt and we are the light. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 KJV
Let there be no doubt or confusion as to who our Father is. There must be no need for DNA tests!!! So let us be loving and kind, slow to anger; never letting the sun go down on it. Let us not be the cause of strife and discord among others. We must be compassionate and not be moved by the storms of life; let us speak peace to them. We must be humble and generous too. God gave His all for us. Let us remember those who have not and be a blessing unto them. Let us stop the lies and cheating. Liars have a different father from us. Let us do what Jesus would do and make the world a better place.
Give NOBODY a chance to question your pedigree! You are the child of a King.
GOD IS OUR FATHER. LET US BE MORE LIKE HIM!
